Design & distribution obligations
Last updated: 30 September 2026
Suffice Finance Pty Ltd (ABN 41 654 196 040, Australian credit licence 541418) is committed to complying with its design and distribution obligations (DDO) under the Treasury Laws Amendment (Design and Distribution Obligations and Product Intervention Powers) Act 2019 (Cth).
The aim of DDO is to help customers obtain appropriate financial products by requiring issuers and distributors to take a consumer-centric approach to how products are designed and who they are distributed to.
What is a target market determination?
A target market determination (TMD) describes the class of customers a product is designed for (the target market), any conditions on how the product is distributed, the events that would require the TMD to be reviewed, and the information distributors must report to the issuer. A TMD is not financial advice and does not take your personal circumstances into account. Always consider the terms of the product itself before deciding.
TMD: Suffice personal loan
Version 1.1 · Effective 30 September 2026. Download the target market determination (PDF), free of charge, or request a hard copy using the contact details below. The determination is summarised on this page.
Product
An unsecured personal loan of fixed or variable rate, with terms between 1 and 7 years, repaid by regular instalments.
Target market
The product is designed for consumers who: are 18 or older with an Australian residential address; are Australian citizens, permanent residents or holders of eligible visas; earn a consistent, verifiable income; have a need to borrow a lump sum for personal, domestic or household purposes, such as consolidating existing debts, home improvement, a vehicle, medical or relocation costs, or another significant personal expense; and have the capacity to meet regular repayments over the chosen term without substantial hardship, based on their income and expenses.
The product is not designed for consumers who: require ongoing or revolving credit; cannot demonstrate capacity to repay from verifiable income; are in, or about to enter, financial hardship; or need funds for business purposes.
Distribution conditions
The product is distributed directly by Suffice through this website and our online application process. Every application passes through our application and assessment process, which collects the information needed to establish that an applicant is reasonably likely to be within the target market (including identity, income, expense and credit-related information) before any credit is provided. We do not authorise third parties to distribute the product except under arrangements that require the same checks.
Review triggers
We review the TMD at least every two years, and earlier if a review trigger occurs, including: a material increase in defaults, hardship applications or complaints connected to the product; a significant dealing outside the target market; a material change to the product or how it is distributed; or a change in law or regulatory guidance that affects the determination.
Reporting
Any distributor of the product must report to us: complaints relating to the product (at least quarterly); any significant dealing outside the target market (within 10 business days of becoming aware); and the information we reasonably request to support a review.
Availability and review
The current determination is published above and available free of charge, with hard copies on request. A TMD is not a consumer disclosure document: it doesn't replace the terms of your loan contract. The first review of the determination occurs within two years of its effective date, with reviews at least every two years after that, or earlier if a review trigger occurs. Superseded versions remain available on request while the product continues to be held by consumers who acquired it under them.
